Natalia Viana specializes in Latin American and Brazilian social issues. She worked as an investigative reporter for Caros Amigos magazine, an influential political monthly, in addition to freelancing for other Brazilian magazines. She is a correspondent for FSRN and for the UK agency, Global Radio News. Natalia's first book, "Plantados no Chao" (Planted in the Earth) came out in Brazil in June of 2007. It is the result of an investigation about political assassinations in recent years in her country. She was awarded two national prizes for her investigative work and a scholarship from the British Council to study her MA in Radiojournalism in London, which she finished in September of 2007.
