CLIMATE REPORT
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its latest report today at an international summit in Bangkok. The report states that countries have 8 years to stabilize the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere to prevent a 3.6 degree rise in global temperatures. Scientists estimate that a 3.6 degree rise could cause coastal cities to flood, create extreme shortages of potable water, and trigger extinctions of up to 30% of the earth's species. The US accounts for approximately one quarter of the world's annual greenhouse gas emissions.
